1.national education philanthropy

Marketing, Social Media Management, Copywriting, Media Pitching, Video Production, Story Mining, Graphic Design, Ghostwriting, Funder Management

how we helped
The client was outsourcing its day-to-day communications and marketing needs, so we made sure we were steeped in the leadership’s overall goals. We built a multi-dimensional strategy that was responsive to those goals, and then we executed furiously on it. All the while, we focused on tight project management and stayed in close contact with the leadership.
the outcome
The client was a startup, so it took a few months to get traction, and then our efforts took off. We produced award-winning videos , significantly grew the social accounts , and landed The New Yorker dozens and dozens of media placements. Most importantly, the client received an influx of applications for the grants it was awarding; more than half of the applications came from people of color.

2.national youth civic engagement organization

Ghostwriting, Story Mining, Media Pitching, Social Media Management

what they needed
Seeking media coverage for an inaugural national conference for middle and high school students. Also looking for media monitoring and live posting on social media during events.
how we helped
We built a team and spoke directly with dozens of students, parents, educators, and program staff to identify as many angles as possible. We coordinated across the different groups involved to surface and gain approval on the most compelling storylines. We then divided between pitching local and national news outlets and ghostwriting and pitching op-eds. Finally, we attended the event in person to coordinate media interviews and create and post social media content.
the outcome
Despite joining the project less than a month before the conference, our team landed 16 stories about the event. Local and national media covered the students and op-eds from students and the program’s CEO ran in national media outlets, including Youth Today and The Hill.

3.national college
prep nonprofit

 Copywriting, Video Editing, Story Mining

what they needed
Seeking video, emails, and text messages for a recruitment campaign focused on high school students in historically underrepresented communities.
how we helped
We leveraged our youth since a member of our team had firsthand experience with this program’s platform. We combined her perspective as a high school student with the lessons we learned by speaking with past participants in this program and reviewing previously used campaign materials. Then we pitched and executed an approach designed to activate current high school students. We brought on an experienced video editor to ensure sufficient polish on the final products.
the outcome
The videos, still images, and text assets we created led to a successful campaign with the program meeting its recruitment goal of about 1,000 applications. The client asked us to return for a second year, and with an updated video and targeted outreach to both students and teachers, applications exceeded 2,300.

4.national youth development program

Graphic Design, Website Support

what they needed
Seeking web development for a website overhaul that would capture the program’s uniqueness. Also seeking graphic design support for its annual impact report.
how we helped
Website projects are a huge lift, so we partnered with Digigeeks, a network of strategic communications professionals, to supplement our capacity and expertise. Our teams collaborated on a months-long process to design and iterate on a website that captured the program’s distinct characteristics. We added graphic design support to further customize the site.
the outcome
The new site helped the program recruit its largest class ever, the impact report won plaudits for its design, and we continue to work together on additional projects more than a year later.

5.national philanthropy with state-specific priorities

Copywriting, Ghostwriting, Story Mining, Media Pitching

what they needed
Seeking story sourcing and media engagement for the most promising angles amongst its dozens of grantees.
how we helped
Sourcing story ideas is like taking pictures: it’s important to get close. In-person and over Zoom, we spoke with dozens of people, starting with the leaders of the various programs and moving our way to the people on the ground. Narratives emerged over time, and we pursued these angles from multiple approaches: pitching news media, submitting op-eds, submitting panel proposals and speaking at conferences, launching a monthly newsletter, commissioning reports, and more.
the outcome
The narrative is taking hold both locally and nationally with 43 stories placed in less than 18 months, including a story about a grant recipient on the TODAY Show!

6.elite independent high school

Copywriting, Ghostwriting, Story Mining, Social Media Management, Media Pitching, Funder Management, Video Editing, Graphic Design, Website Support

what they needed
The client had a sudden staffing change on its marketing and communications team and decided to partner with Each Day to provide these services. We held weekly meetings to ensure we were steeped in the leadership’s overall goals, needs, and challenges. We built a multi-dimensional strategy that was responsive to their needs and included admissions and enrollment management.
how we helped
Our approach considered the school’s many audiences and required nuance and tact. We established regular communication to ensure faculty, students, parents, and alumni had the information they needed to succeed in school and participate in community events. We also helped create funder-focused communications that inspired them to donate to the school’s fundraising efforts. Lastly, we increased local awareness of the school through story sourcing and media pitching celebrating student and school accomplishments.
the outcome
Our consistent and prolific efforts raised awareness of the school: we sent out over 40 newsletters (with an average open rate of XX percent), helped the school raise nearly $1 million, and placed five stories in local and national news outlets. As a result, enrollment increased 15 percent year-over-year, representing hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional revenue for the school. We were contracted for a second year due to our success.

7.city-focused education philanthropy

Messaging Video Production, Landscape Analysis, Graphic Design

what they needed
The client needed compelling, well-designed assets they could present to potential funders and partners as well as a better understanding of how their work fit amidst the national landscape. The client sought storytelling opportunities that could galvanize their donors and convey the effectiveness of the programs they fund, in particular a literacy program that implements the science of reading in a large urban school district.
how we helped
We started by leveraging our deep experience in education and on literacy projects focused on the science of reading. To create a documentary-style video, we partnered again with Dot Lemon, a video production firm that applied an intergenerational storytelling approach to produce a 5-minute video and several cutdowns for social media. We also created a deck for the client to present to funders, donors, partners, and the community. Lastly, we developed a landscape analysis and recommendations to help our client determine potential funders, potential partnerships, and competitors they can learn from.
the outcome
The client lauded both the video and the deck. They were excited to share them with their larger team and began organizing a funder gathering in order to present the materials and findings. The client said, “We have a few different comms firms that we're working with, and you showed a deep understanding of the project and the deliverables don't need us to go back and do lots of work to make the materials accurate. That's not the case for the other projects. This is very helpful."

We’re grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to accelerate the people and programs supporting young people.
