Context

Seeking story sourcing and media engagement for the most promising angles amongst its dozens of grantees.

Approach

Sourcing story ideas is like taking pictures: it’s important to get close. In-person and over Zoom, we spoke with dozens of people, starting with the leaders of the various programs and moving our way to the people on the ground. Narratives emerged over time, and we pursued these angles from multiple approaches: pitching news media, submitting op-eds, submitting panel proposals and speaking at conferences, launching a monthly newsletter, commissioning reports, and more.

Results

The narrative is taking hold both locally and nationally; with a lot of pluck, we were able to land a story about a grant recipient on the TODAY Show!
